HISTORY OF A NAME

ARTEMIS (Greek: nominative Artemis) in Greek mythology the daughter of Zeus and of Leto and the twin sister of Apollo was one of the most widely venerated of the gods and manifestly one of the oldest deities. Artemis is the goddess of the wilderness, the hunt and wild animals, and fertility.

Every company has an interesting story behind their name. Artemis Mortgage, Ltd. took the name Artemis for a couple of very good reasons however it is the tie in with the Greek Goddess that conveys a unique comparison that deserves mentioning.

All too often in the Home Financing experience it feels much like an unfriendly and unfamiliar wilderness to the average homebuyer. In too many instances, this part of the buying experience is more troublesome and stressful than the rest. The buyer may often wish to have a special deity to "pray to" in order to get them through a horrible loan experience.

In the spirit of Artemis, Zeus, Leto and Apollo, we aim to guide all of our customers to experience a "well-guided hunt" through the wilderness, that is known as the Home Financing experience, and to provide fertile ground for growing more business. We offer our commitment of excellence to you!

OUR HISTORY 

Founded originally as Artemis Mortgage Corporation in 2004, however our roots go farther back.

The principals of Artemis Mortgage (Artemis) met while they were working for a mortgage broker based out of Beaumont, Texas. Beginning in 1999, this company began to experience financial difficulties. In March of 2000, instead of "going down with the ship", the principals decide to be Masters of Their Own Fate and began working for a "start-up" mortgage company in Houston, Texas.

During the first quarter of 2003, the "start-up" mortgage company was approached by a local financial institution with an interest in obtaining the mortgage operations. On May 15th of 2003, the operations were successfully sold.

Roughly ten (10) months later, the purchaser of the operations decided that they no longer wanted to be in the mortgage business and closed it's doors. The principals saw an opportunity to continue to assist its original client base as well as begin a new mortgage company - thus Artemis was born.

Artemis was issued a certificate of incorporation in January of 2004. In July of 2004, Artemis received its Loan Correspondent approval from the office of Housing and Urban Development.

Quickly realizing the limitations of continuing business merely as a mortgage broker, we began the process of expanding our lending capabilities by becoming a mortgage lender with a focus not only in the retail arena but expanding into the wholesale market as well.
